Tobin is a 4 1/2 to 5 year old Sheltie boy who has been through too much in his short life.  He was turned over to Sheltie Rescue for nipping children in the household.  He will bite adults too, under the right circumstances.  But, with his own Mom and Dad he is a cuddly, loving, energetic Sheltie-boy.  He will warm up to his Mom first, but it will take a couple of days.  Watch out during the first day or so.  It will take him longer to warm up to a male human in the household.  But eventually he'll be cuddly with a man too.  He will probably always trust his Mom more and remain a little fearful of his Dad.

Tobin was living outside with a shock collar on him before he came to Sheltie Rescue.  He was not yet neutered.  As a consequence we worked to brush up his house training - which has gone well.  But he had learned to lift his leg and mark wherever he wanted to and we're still working on eliminating this habit.

Because of his need to get used to living in a home and being around us, we put a belly band on him which is a male dog diaper.  This allowed him to have the run of the house, play with the other dogs, and interact with us, and learn to live in a home.  Tobin continues to need to wear a belly band. We use both washable and disposable belly bands.  You might notice these on Tobin and other male Shelties here in some of the photos and videos.

While Tobin gets along with other dogs and gets along with our kitty, he is far more interested in being with his people than with another dog.  Tobin is a Sheltie that does a lot of circling - going round in circles even when he needs to go straight to get to his food bowl or some other rewarding destination.

If you'd like more information on Tobin feel free to call us at 801-231-3031.  If you'd like to pursue an adoption please REGISTER and fill out our Application for Adoption at http://SheltieRescueUT.org.  Tobin's adoption fee is $300.00 and comes with a lifetime of unconditional love.
