Brando is a very smart little guy who will make a great companion for an active Mom and/or Dad. He's sweet and gentle. He's apparently learned that not all humans are sweet and gentle so he tends to be somewhat cautious until he gets to know you. He's about a year old and has a really niced temperament.
Brando was vaccinated, heartworm tested, wormed, and is about to be neutered. Basic services like these cost a total of about $100.00.
Brando will have the typical needs of any one year old dog. He will need training - basic things like SIT, DOWN, and so forth. His adopting family will need to keep in mind that he's still a youngster and should be handled very lovingly. He's entering teenager-hood when training is most helpful. This doesn't mean that yelling and hitting are appropriate training tools...it means that patience and knowledge will be very helpful for his new family to help him learn how to be a good family member.
As a one year old we consider Brando still in the chewing stage...so it's possible that he may get it in his head to chew on items laying around the house within reach...especially if they have the scent of his new family on them. We hope to have Brando house trained before he's adopted. As a smart little boy we expect him to pick this up pretty quickly if he hasn't already got it figured out.
Brando's coloring and gestures are very much like that of a short-haired Sheltie. Short haired Shelties can result from a poor breeding combination. However, watching Brando's behavior we believe that, as much as he looks and acts like a Sheltie, Brando is probably a mix of Sheltie and something else. Whatever he is...he's going to be an outstanding friend for some lucky adopter. If you're interested in Brando please fill out the Application for Adoption at www.SheltieRescueUT2.org. You can also call us at 801-942-4762. Brando's adoption fee is $250.00. Photos coming soon...
