Strawberry is a very calm but smart, sweet, and playful adult Sheltie-girl who was turned over to us by her owners who had lost their home and couldn't keep her in an apartment. She gets along beautifully with the other dogs here and is not very interested in our cat. Her calm demeanor would suggest that she'd be okay with children. Strawberry would not do well if there were very little children around all the time. In doses, with little ones who are taught to be gentle, Strawberry would enjoy their attention. She is easy to integrate into a household. Strawberry shouldn't do a lot of stair climbing. She came to us overweight partly because she suffered from a low thyroid problem that wasn't treated. We are currently treating her, helping her to lose weight, and also working to determine the proper level of her thyroid medication. Thyroid medication is a very cheap, generic pill that must be given daily per vet instructions. Strawberry is up to date on her shots, has had a dental, and is doing very well. Whoever adopts her will need to continue to help Strawberry work on her weight loss. This will help to extend her life just as it would for overweight humans.
