Annie is a doll of a Sheltie girl and was clearly someone's precious companion. She's obviously used to traveling with a human companion. She does beautifully in the car but YOU have to pick her up and put her in and then lift her out because she's a senior. That's a jump she shouldn't be doing anymore. In the house it's obvious that she lived with someone who loved her and with whom she was close. Annie is sure that when we're eating something she too will be getting some morsels of whatever it is we're eating!
Annnie is very well house trained and very responsive even though her appears to be declining some. She was given a grooming where the groomer apparently gave her a lion cut and shaving most of her body. But Annie looks adorable even with this unusual cut for a Sheltie.
We don't know what happened to her human Mom but it must be something pretty serious because it's obvious she cherished Annie. Annie was brought to a veterinarian to be euthanized because there was no family able to take care of her. Adorable and sweet as sugar Annie had complete blood work done and a thorough exam. Her veterinary costs so far are about $300.00. Annie needs a dental and we're going to do an x-ray. We know she has a mild heart murmur. We want to know if the coughing she's doing is related to that heart murmur or not. We already know it's not kennel cough or a respiratory problem like pneumonia.
As soon as we've double checked on the source of Annie's cough, verified that her heart murmur is as minor as we believe it is, and given her a thorough dental under anesthesia along with a dental x-ray to check for hidden abscesses, Annie will be available for adoption.
(Please note that no-anesthesia dentals are NO replacement for real dentals by a veterinarian under anesthesia with a dental x-ray. There's a huge proble developing with people thinking that they are taken good care of their cherished companions' teeth with no-anesthesia dentals only to discover horrible abscesses that have been slowly developing, undiscovered, causing heart disease and major infection.)
