Marley, Tikki, and puppy Max all came from the same household. They all had a bad case of worms especially Marley and Tikki.  These two kids arrived here emaciated and boney because they couldn't put on weight.

All three have been wormed.  Tikki is not yet available for adoption.  We're still working on her house-training.

Marley is a very smart and very loving Sheltie-boy.  He is a full Sheltie with a great personality.  Good with kids and cats.  He is good with some other dogs but not all.  Since he was neutered just a month ago he can be a bit of a bully towards other males, especially recently neutered males.  He can be pushy with other dogs and somewhat in their face.  Something other dogs don't usually like. He is like this despite the fact that he's one of the smallest Sheltie-kids here!

With people, Marley just wants to lay on your lap, put his head on your shoulder, or cuddle into your neck.  He likes to sleep under the covers with you.  This probably started because he lacks the body fat to help keep him warm. This may be a life long habit.

Marley's bad habits are due to the fact that he was never trained except for a little bit.  He does know SIT.  Marley has a bad habit of jumping up on people which we're working on.  This will take awhile to extinguish.  Marley wants to be with his person or people 24/7.  He cries when I leave the house.  I crate him when I leave the house.  He may not need to be crated, though.  (I don't want him to start any arguments with any other males here, while I'm gone.) Marley is under the impression that my dinner is his dinner too.  We're working on this too.  He will also try to find out what's on the kitchen counters if he smells something interesting.

At times, Marley thinks he's a frog!  I've caught him standing on the table in our food room for the dogs, exploring things on the shelves above that smell good to him.  He can jump up onto any table if he wants to.  He can probably jump our baby gates here but he hasn't yet discovered that.  With a LOT of work, Marley could be a VERY competitive and a VERY winning agility star.

He's very well housetrained and is used to a doggie door.  We are currently using a very, very high quality dog food plus vitamin supplements to help him catch up to where he should be nutrition-wise. 

We did a full blood panel on him which showed him to be in perfect health.  After so many months of not having his nutritional needs met we were concerned that he may be anemic or possibly have some other health problem due to a lack of nutrition.  This is NOT the case.  He's in great health.
