Arthur is a bouncy and very cuddly approximately one year old Sheltie-boy.  They don't come anymore affectionate than Arthur is --- he LOVES to snuggle with his people.  Very smart and very eager to please and a great candidate for anyone who might want to do some training in obedience, agility, rally, or whatever...he'd be an incredible dog in any of these areas.
Arthur is a sweetheart who was found running the fields in the Richfield, UT area.  They had some trouble catching him but finally, a homeowner in the area caught him and tried for several weeks to find his owners.  She finally contacted Sheltie Rescue and that's how he came here.  Arthur has had full blood work done, is heartworm free, has had a urinalysis, (needs a repeat of this), is vaccinated, wormed, and microchipped.
Arthur loves to be wherever you are and sometimes that means in your lap.  We've been working on his housetraining and he's doing very well with this --- now even indicating to us when he has to go potty by going to the backyard door.

Arthur needs a calm household.  When there's a lot of excitement or raised voices (like someone might be yelling at him) he gets anxious and a bit hyperactive.  He behaves as though someone was very impatient with him and yelled at him --- scaring him.  So for a little while I expect that loud voices are going to indicate to him that someone may be angry with him.  I think he'll get over that once he learns he's safe and loved. That's how his housetraining appeared to us too --- when he first got here --- he seemed confused about his housetraining.  He was going potty outside just fine but seemed confused over the fact that inside was not fine.  Now he understands that outside only is the good place to go potty and he knows the "go potty" command VERY WELL.

Arthur is easy to train but you need the time to work with him.  He's very motivated by "Good Boy!"  "Good Arthur!" and of course, treats.  Since he was on the run when he was found and we don't know how he got loose, you need to have a yard with good fencing and you'll need to be careful that he doesn't bolt out a front door --- which he very well might do.
Arthur is crate trained, knows SIT, is learning STAY, and is full of potential with the right person/family.  Arthur sleeps in our bedroom at night.
Arthur can be a bit much for other dogs --- too much in their face and a bit too pushy.  We have a couple of dogs here that he plays with very, very nicely.  When a dog doesn't want to play with him and lifts their lip at him he turns away to avoid a confrontation.  Arthur is curious about our cat and would love to play with her but he is not at all aggressive towards her.  He is an all around wonderful Sheltie-baby.  He's still doing Sheltie-baby chewing on things he shouldn't especially dog beds and stuffed toys.  He minds VERY well but you need to monitor him if there's something he could chew on that you wouldn't want him to chew on.
If you're interested in information or possibly adopting Arthur please go to our website at http://SheltieRescueUT.org and register there and then please fill out our Application for Adoption.  You can always call us with questions at 801-942-4762.
Arthur's adoption fee is $400.00.
